Every first Tuesday of the month we are delighted to host our Tapas Tuesday, where you can come and enjoy some FREE tapas with your drink!
Tapas originated in Andalusia, a Southern province of Spain. The actual word “tapa” translates as “cover”and normally they are served on small plates that can sit on top of your drink.
The tapa was born when, due to an illness, the Spanish king Alfonso the 10th, the Wise, had to take small bites of food with some wine between meals. Once recovered from the disease, the wise king decreed that no wine was to be served in any of the inns in the land of Castile , unless accompanied by something to eat. This was a wise precaution to counteract the adverse effects of alcohol on those people who, through lack of money to buy a nourishing meal drank alcohol on an empty stomach.
The great news is we give our tapas away free, until they run out, so with your first drink, every first Tuesday of the month, you can take you pick between two delights and join in a small piece of history brought to the Marlborough by the Vegan Food Pimp, who lived in Spain for 11 years.
