Artists, Models, iNK return to the Marlborough with ‘CENSORED’: Life drawing meets performance art.
For this session we’ll be using performance-based ideas and imagery to explore how censorship and suppression of the body can affect the way we view and draw them.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to promote life drawing classes and events via online content, due to the censorship of the human (and specifically female) body. Despite careful photography and Photoshopping, obscure ‘community standards’ mean that our social media pages, events and profiles are frequently removed or blocked. The online algorithms that decide whose bodies and which parts of those bodies are deemed ‘acceptable’ are very much rooted in reality, and as life models and artists working with our bodies in the digital age, we hope this session will get us all thinking.
Some basic materials provided.
