In the UK there is cross-party consensus that overseas development must both advance British interests and ensure that economic, social and cultural opportunities are extended to the poorest.
The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) Sexuality, Poverty and Law Programme has explored what that means for same-sex attracted and gender non-conforming people in countries to which it provides development and humanitarian aid. Speakers will examine challenges, particularly around how LGBT communities experience poverty and suggest ways in which we can partner together to tackle marginalisation.
